Occupational Safety Manager EHS Olen - What you will do:

As Occupational Safety Manager you are responsible for leading a team of prevention advisors and overseeing the implementation of workplace safety programs & projects across the multi BU site Olen. Reporting to the Head of Safety, Employee services & Security Site Olen, the role involves providing tactical and operational guidance to the prevention team, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and Umicore standards, and promoting a caring safety culture amongst employees and onsite contractors.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of prevention advisors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for the team, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Guide and actively support all BU´s and their departments in managing safety and developing a caring culture in their areas.
  • Monitor and analyse safety data, identify areas of improvement, and develop plans for risk mitigation
  • Systematically coordinate with the team of prevention advisors of The BU´s, the local IDPB and with the medical department
  • Liaise and collaborate with the Communications department in the development of safety campaigns and communication with employees.
  • Member of the GPP safety leadership team
  • Actively communicate with corporate EHS in order to align the actions in Olen with corporate initiatives and to spread positive learnings from Site Olen to the whole of Umicore

 

Safety

  • Ensure compliance to legal and company requirements through periodic checks and audits
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and revise policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Supervise the assessment of the correct implementation of the safety guidelines, procedures and all legal requirements
  • Identify emerging trends, best practices, and legislative changes related to occupational safety and health.
  • Define goals, objectives and projects for the year action plan to drive the continuous improvement of safety performance
  • Ensure incidents are properly analysed and corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence
  • Develop and implement initiatives to engage employees in safety-related activities and encourage proactive behaviours
  • Ensure that a consistent process is in place to manage contractor works onsite.
  • Regularly monitor the safety performance of contractors.

 

Training and competency development

  • Coordinate the development of safety trainings content and methodology in collaboration with Learning & Development department.
  • Design and implement a competency development plan for the team of prevention advisors and safety coordinators/contact persons in operational areas
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars to promote awareness and educate employees

 

Who we are looking for

Functional requirements:

  • University degree, Technical or Master in Occupational Safety & Health and level 1 prevention advisor
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in H&S management
  • Solid experience in developing and implementing H&S management systems, programs, procedures and trainings
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
