Our Architecture & PMO team

We recently reformed our IT organization and bundled forces by combining Architecture and Project Management & PMO in 1 organisational entity, a focused group to support BU and IT growth and transformation initiatives.

In order to take our next steps, we are looking for a strong and enthusiastic team member, fascinated by project management and its linked PMO activities.

With a clear roadmap ahead of us, we are entitled to implement and start our PMO governance over all IT teams.   

Your role in the team

A) PMO program (roadmap) rollout

• Roll-out of the multi-year PMO program, focused on introduction and constant upleveling of the PMO organization within Umicore IS. This program is focused on but not limited to, developing and implementing PMO standards and processes based on various methodologies in use, project management tooling and project governance and structure.
• Build & maintain a well-balanced framework to make resource management and resource allocation possible within the entire IS department. Involving global leadership team members to guardrail capacity, setting priorities.
• Communicate, train and encourage (or enforce where necessary) the use of the PMO standards and processes.
• Introduce and focus on creating a culture of excellence and practice amongst PMs in project management throughout the IS organization, leading to predictable project outcomes, increased efficiency, and reduced risk.
• Build and maintain a virtual team of project managers in order to promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of PMO standards and processes.
• Actively participate in and steer a PMO community connecting different BU and corporate PMO functions within Umicore.

B) Business & digitalization PMO (project management office)

• Setup the IS PMO organization (this on different dimensions such as global, local, regional, per domain,..).
• Define the project, program and portfolio governance for all BU – IS projects, starting from the ideation phase till the project execution and operational support model.
• Perform objective priority setting, based on qualitative and quantitative measurements and business cases, in close cooperation with Business IT teams and internal IS teams.
• Ensure a fit for purpose, proactive capacity planning and allocation of internal expertise and external consulting resources.
• Set up project quality gates, review project stages and set up a project dashboard to monitor and escalate to management on-time when necessary.
• Perform monthly KPI and portfolio reporting to the IS MT on progress, status, risks and mitigation plans.

Who we are looking for strong technical competences:

• Master degree in field of IT/Business Economics with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a similar function
• Experience in managing the complete lifecycle of a project, Azure DevOPS and Planisware tool knowhow is an asset
• Experience of project management using AGILE or PRINCE2 methodology (or equivalent) for medium to large sized projects, PMP certification is a plus
• Experience in end-to-end business process modeling and business process management
• Strong skills in creating and maintaining project and program plans, including risks, actions, issues, dependencies
• Affinity with and interest in a broad range of (digital) technologies.
• Familiar with or open to new learning technologies.
• Experience of Program and Project level financial management
• Experience of defining and delivering benefits realization for projects and program
