What you will be doing

We are currently looking for a Manager Engineering Services to join Umicore's Battery Material’s (BM) Engineering team in Brussels, Belgium. In this role you will lead the integration of the planning, optimization & execution efficiency of the engineering services provided as part of the Service Level Agreements to different clients/business units within Umicore & beyond Umicore (ie JVs)! You will also review and plan the resources for projects, define and propose team composition, request external resources whenever necessary, coordinate the SLA requests from the JVs and deploy the necessary resources for the SLA, guarantee the update of dashboards and roadmaps, integrate S&OP quarter plans with engineering plans and documentations.

 

Detailed Responsibilities:

 

1.Service Level Agreements Management:

  • Coordination & integration and planning  of the various Engineering Service request(s) as defined & agreed as per Engineering SLA, including service provided, response and maintenance activities associated with the SLA
  • Ensuring compliance with SLA vis-à-vis any services provided outside of scope of the  SLA are subject to an additional cost
  • Changes to services will be communicated and documented via the change mgmt and  notification process. Services will be provided in adherence to any related policies, processes and procedures
  • Service design changes are handled as projects, and are outside the scope of this SLA
  • Funding for major upgrades/updates will be negotiated on a service-by-service basis
  • Provide administrative and system support during normal hours. Investigate and remedy unplanned outages during normal support hours
  • Meet response times associated with service requests and incidents
  • Review this SLA monthly and notify the customer of updates or changes
  • Ensure Incident Management is incorporated and escalated/managed as per SLA
  • Planned service maintenance is approved work that is planned and scheduled as well as Unplanned service maintenance is priority work that is unplanned due to an urgent repair to prevent failure. Unplanned service outages will be given priority (and communicated immediately) on a case-by-case basis depending on the type and urgency of the service failure

2. Resource Planning & Budgeting :

  • Responsible for optimizing the allocation of resources, including finances, personnel, and materials, to support long-term plans effectively. This might involve budgeting, workforce planning, and procurement strategies
  • Performance Measurement and Analysis: Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and tracking progress against these metrics is vital. They analyse data to assess the success of long-term strategies and make adjustments as necessary as per SLA
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them is a crucial responsibility. This involves scenario planning, risk assessment, and ensuring the organization is prepared for unexpected challenges
  • Communication and Reporting: They are responsible for effectively communicating the long-term plans and their progress to stakeholders, such as the executive team, shareholders, and relevant departments. This involves preparing reports, presentations, and updates, including regular progress reports.

 

 

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience (5 years) as project manager or PMO, ideally with demonstrated ability in Automotive (APQP) or Material/Mining Industry;
  • University degree , or equivalent qualification, in Engineering, preferably Masters in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical & Instrumentation/Automation.
  • Technical experience and/or background in the execution of engineering projects (of specialties above mentioned) & proven experience and understanding in the execution of industrial projects in operational environments.
  • Knowledge of EHS standards, industry good practices and legal requirements applicable to the specialty of focus.
  • Knowledge of industrial project trades and the interactions between all trades (project management, construction management, civil/building/facilities, electrical, piping, process, equipment and start-up activities).
  • Strong working knowledge of the MS Office package specially Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project (0365 or Office 2019) or Planisware Version 7.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet & dashboard applications, such as MS Power BI. MS Excel & Tableau.
  • Project or Portfolio Management certification (PMI or Prince2)
  • Excellent English (both written and spoken)
  • Ability to lead teams, projects and drive alignment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to overcome sophisticated challenges and find effective solutions through analyzing and critical thinking
  • Effective time management to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and priorities are managed efficiently
