What You Will Be Doing
As Labour Law & Employee Relations Manager, you play a vital role within the P&O (People & Organization) organization. You ensure the compliant and consistent application of labour legislation in Belgium and act as the first point of contact for HR Legal matters. You will handle case follow-up (including litigation) and support a stable social dialogue.
Responsibilities;
Labour Law;
- Analyze Belgian labour law & sector regulations. Support and advise colleagues from the P&O organization & business from a social legal perspective (think of disciplinary cases, social disputes, grievances and conflict resolution).
- Ensure consistent and legally compliant application of P&O policies and CLAs across our Belgian sites.
- Maintain contact with external legal advisors and ensure proper follow-up of legal proceedings.
- Analyze legislative changes and case law. Assess impact on Umicore and translate this into useful guidelines, notes or other means of advice.
- Manage the knowledge of social legislation within Umicore.
- Deliver targeted training to P&O colleagues and managers on labour law and internal policies.
- Update policies, template documents & works regulations, etc.
- Draft addenda, settlement agreements, warning letters, CLA’s, etc.
Employee Relations;
- Support and assist Site P&O to build and maintain a constructive social dialogue.
- Assist Labour Law & Employee Relations Lead in building and maintaining constructive social dialogue at Belgian & European level.
- Provide support to the business to realize adjustments to our organization.
- Lead the P&O operational meeting and ensure a smooth exchange of information. Ensure smooth interaction and feedback loop between the P&O operational & strategic level.
- Manage and/or participate in specific assignments and projects.
Who We Are Looking For
- Belgian Master’s degree in Law (Labour law specialization preferred).
- Approximately 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Deep knowledge of Belgian employment legislation and collective labour agreements.
- Ability to interpret and draft practical advice, legal texts and policies.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to analyze complex legal texts but deliver a practical solution to the business (solution oriented).
- Mother tongue Dutch, with good knowledge of English, French is a plus.
