With the introduction of the sustainability strategy Go for Zero and the business strategy Rise 2030, Umicore has clear and challenging ambitions for the future. These come with new and bigger challenges for Procurement as well. Scale and speed of growth will ask for strong performance with global impact on the specialist procurement activities that are under responsibility of this function.

You will be leading and driving the global specialist procurement activities related to Energy and Capex, allowing for maximum added value for Umicore through global focus, specialist input and synergy capture.

What you will be doing

  • A strong growth in Capex (portfolio of > 5 Bio € in coming years) will need the growth and management of an international capex team existing on the one hand out of teams located at the sites where expansion takes place in both Europe and N-America, and on the other hand out of a global capex team
  • Go for Zero ambitions ask for an international energy specialists team (Asia, Europe, N-America) that drives and supports business ambitions to go to zero GHG in 2035 with ambitious intermediate goals; increasing footprint will increase the value of the energy portfolio to ‘triple digit’ million that needs careful management

  • Contribute to the strategy execution of Umicore and its BU’s

    • Through involvement in their management (team) discussions

    • Scanning opportunities, prioritizing and translating these into pragmatic solutions and benefits for the business

    • Building a relevant external network enabling international advocacy for energy related topics to optimize costs, security of supply of renewable energy

  • Lead and drive the Global Capex and Energy Procurement Organization by setting up regional/global teams maximizing group impact and cross BU synergies

  • Contribute to transformation of indirect procurement

    • Support the introduction of a global uniform SAP Ariba system

    • Bring excellence in category approach driving efficiency and effectiveness

    • Define and manage the necessary (organizational) change needed

  • Member of the P&T management team:
    • Contribute to the P&T general management, operations and the definition and execution of the long term P&T strategy  as part of the Management Team of P&T

Who we are looking for

You are an ideal candidate for this position as you

  • Hold a Masters degree in economics/sciences/engineering
  • Have substantial experience in procurement, commercial and other relevant domains (>15 years) including important track record in capex procurement
  • Possess a deep understanding and knowledge of business and needs in Umicore
  • Are fluent in English – knowing Dutch, German and French will be a bonus
  • Have advanced computer skills
  • Are performance and result oriented, internal customer oriented, strive for continuous improvement
  • Possess analytical & conceptual thinking and decision making; strong project and risk management skills
  • Have exemplary behaviour towards ethics and integrity
  • Are a strong communicator and have interpersonal impact (influencing and convincing)
  • Believe in teamwork, collaboration & flexibility
  • Possess strong leadership and people management skills, strategic orientation and thinking
