Can you describe your role/position at Umicore?

I am a business analyst and I manage different kinds of analysis and reporting for the financial results in China.

What do you like about your job?

I like numbers and I enjoy transferring data to meaningful information. The exchanges and discussions with different colleagues and teams are very enriching and I like the fact that I learn so much throughout the process.

What do you like about working at Umicore?

I enjoy the Umicore culture the most, because you can always find open-minded and energetic people who are willing to share ideas. Whenever I encounter problems I always find colleagues with experience who are willing to give advice.

Why did you want to work at Umicore?

Umicore is a company which takes corporate responsibility very seriously, I like the way how Umicore communicates with their customers and stakeholders. Additionally, I believe that the materials and metals industry is different and interesting compared to other industries and activities, like retail or real estate. For example, there is a tailor-made accounting system for metals.

What do you look forward to when you set off to work in the morning?

As the metals industry is very dynamic, I am always expecting new challenges. This makes it very attractive and I always find new things to do.

What has been the highlight of your time at Umicore so far?

My position was a newly created position and I have been able to fulfill my assignments with success. Therefore, I have been able to help management to see things from a different but positive perspective.

Any advice for newcomers?

Don't be shy and ask questions as colleagues are always open to help. It is very easy to adapt to the Umicore working environment. Just enjoy!
