About our Support Functions
A global organization. It’s not just those in our industrial sites and technical centers that are vital to Umicore’s growth. Across our support functions we ensure that we continue to grow and evolve – whether it’s by making sure our decisions are commercially viable, enhancing our reputation, building new customer relationships or finding the right people who can build on what we’ve already achieved. The variety of our work means we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.
What you will be doing
The importance of Data & Analytics at Umicore - as basis for operational excellence, value driven insights and as foundation for (Gen)AI – is increasing massively. We are maturing our processes and growing our data & AI organization, both in the IT department as well as in the business units.
As Metadata Platform Owner, you manage the metadata platform as a product. You shape the vision, build the roadmap, and ensure the platform evolves in line with business priorities, governance standards, and technological developments. You own integrations, ensure reliable metadata flows, and drive adoption across the organization.
Your detailed responsibilities:
- Own the meta data platform, driving product vision, roadmap and value realization
- Translate strategy and governance needs into a clear and prioritized backlog.
- Follow the evolution of the tool, evaluate new features, and introduce relevant capabilities aligned with business and governance priorities.
- Liaise with the vendor to manage roadmap discussions, feature evaluations, and escalated support.
- Gather and refine business requirements, evaluate use cases, and propose solutions leveraging catalog capabilities.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and data platform teams to set up, configure, and operate catalog scans and metadata flows.
- Manage and maintain integrations with source systems to ensure reliable, automated metadata ingestion.
- Enable and maintain core catalog capabilities, like the business glossary, data domain and data product structures, classifications, and data lineage.
- Test and validate new features, configurations, and integrations before deployment.
- Work in an agile way: iterate, adjust based on feedback, and maintain transparent priorities.
- Provide user training, support and troubleshooting as primary point of contact.
- Partner with data stewards, data product owners, and domain teams to ensure metadata quality and alignment with governance standards.
- Ensure accurate documentation, monitor platform usage and adoption, and propose continuous improvements.
Location will be Hoboken or Brussels, Belgium. Occasional travel to other Umicore sites (national & international) can be required.
Who we are looking for
