What you will be doing

We build Germanium based solutions for a sustainable and connected universe to serve a better life. You will be key to support our ambitions and in particular to be an extraordinary and safe place to work. We stand for quality in everything we do. You will be part in crafting and implementing our EHS roadmap and drive improvements in safety culture and results in our road to Zero Harm. At Umicore, we work together and you will work in close collaboration with senior and plant management.

As an EHS manager you ensure full compliance with all governmental and Umicore EHS policies. Teamwork is key so you work in close collaboration with the EHS professionals of our Olen (Belgium) and Quapaw (USA) sites.

We ensure continuous improvement of our quality assurance system and our quality culture, in compliance with our internal quality procedures and ISO 9001/14001. With your drive you move EHS and quality performance to excellence by coordinating audits, investigating incidents, acting as a mentor/trainer and ensuring sharing of findings and standard processes.

You advise managers/staff on EHS and quality related aspects and be the liaison to internal and external experts on site, as well as corporate services.

Who we are looking for

  • You have a bachelor degree in safety and environmental management (level 2 safety coordinator) or equivalent.
  • You have experience with industrial installations, preferably working >5 years in the EHS expertise domains of a chemical, metallurgical or material processing setting.
  • With your passion and outstanding behavior regarding safety, health, environment and quality, you daily encourage your colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • You are a strong teammate, have strong social skills, can lead people and build networks.
  • You thrive in an environment that needs regular alignment with stakeholders at all levels.
  • You can define clear goals and priorities, are committed to results and report progress against objectives in a clear and concise way.
  • You are proficient in Dutch and English and have good communication and presentation skills, adaptable to different target audiences.
