What you will be doing

We are currently looking for an Advanced Planning Senior Manager to join Umicore's Battery Material’s (BM) Engineering team in Brussels, Belgium. In this role you will lead the integration of the strategic planning, optimization & execution efficiency of the engineering portfolio! You will also manage inter-department & inter-discipline portfolio impact via global ownership of Program Design Criteria (PgDC for projects & programs) and the Engineering Portfolio Roadmap in sync with Technology & Customer Roadmaps.

Responsibilities:

  1. Program Design Criteria management for each/every project/program:
    • Define the program scope basis/boundaries in partnership with Global Technical Planning in the early phases of design and planning.
    • Stakeholder management with senior management to drive alignment on the Program Design criteria as well active collaboration with various departments  & disciplines to enable conversion of key program design: Supply Chain Management, E2E Customer Management team, Process Technology, Operations, Operational Excellence or EHS, etc.
    • Prepare and support revision & approval of the Program Design criteria in the early Engineering phases of the program while partnering with Technical Planning, Master-Planner & CapEx Manager guaranteeing that standards, guidelines, best available, safe and cost-effective solutions are implemented and maintains the baseline for Program Design criteria.
    • Support revision & approval of the Program Design criteria in the later Engineering phases of the program while partnering with Regional Engineering, Technical Planning, MasterPlanner & CapEx Management  as part of Engineering Change request (ECR) guaranteeing that standards, guidelines, best available, safe and cost-effective solutions are implemented.
    • Supports generation of Program Design that support the timely  approval of the CapEx budget and Integrated Timelines as part of regular stake holder review.

 

  1. Ownership of Engineering Technology Roadmap across scope/cost/timelines.
  • Partners with internal department and stakeholders to co-create the Engineering Roadmap in sync with Cascading Roadmap of M&S and Technology
  • Digitization of the Engineering Portfolio Roadmap maximising PPM platform such as Planisware as well as other MS Platforms Visual Studio, PowerBI, Visio, Power Apps.

 

  1. Resource Planning & Budgeting
  • Allocation of resources, including finances, personnel, and materials, to support long-term plans effectively, which might involve budgeting, workforce planning, and procurement strategies

 

  1. Additionally:
  • Performance Measurement and Analysis: Establishing key performance indicators and tracking progress against these metrics. Analyse data to assess the success of long-term strategies and make adjustments as necessary as per SLA.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. Scenario planning, risk assessment, and ensuring the organization is prepared for unexpected challenges,
  • Communication and Reporting: effectively communicating the long-term plans and their progress to stakeholders; preparing reports, presentations, and updates, including regular progress report to the Senior Director Advanced Planning.

 

Who we are looking for

  • Extensive experience (+15 years) as project manager or PMO, ideally with demonstrated ability (+5 years) in Automotive (APQP) or Material/Mining Industry or alternatively in a regulated industry.
  • University degree , or equivalent qualification, in Engineering, preferably Masters in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical & Instrumentation/Automation.
  • Technical experience and/or background in the execution of engineering projects (of specialties above mentioned) & proven experience and understanding in the execution of industrial projects in operational environments.
  • Knowledge of EHS standards, industry good practices and legal requirements applicable to the specialty of focus.
  • Knowledge of industrial project trades and the interactions between all trades (project management, construction management, civil/building/facilities, electrical, piping, process, equipment and start-up activities).
  • Strong working knowledge of the MS Office package specially Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project (0365 or Office 2019) or Planisware Version 7.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet & dashboard applications, such as MS Power BI. MS Excel & Tableau.
  • Project or Portfolio Management certification (PMI or Prince2)
  • Excellent English (both written and spoken)
  • Ability to lead teams, projects and drive alignment with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to overcome sophisticated challenges and find effective solutions through analyzing and critical thinking
  • Effective time management to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and priorities are managed efficiently
