As our factory is located near several residential areas, we also take into account the noise caused by the activities on our site. For example, noise can be caused by knocking and drilling, or be continuous from fans and chimneys.
Our studies on noise are part of a comprehensive action plan for further improvements. Here are a number of established and ongoing measures to limit the noise on our site as much as possible.
Dampening, isolating and raising awareness
The installation of dampers in the chimneys of our installations and insulation walls counteract the noise of pumps and gas ducts.
Our operators are also aware of noise and noise pollution. They are trained to take into account noise, especially at night, as a result of certain activities like loading and unloading of recycled materials.

Noise barrier
We are working on a noise barrier 25 metres high and 500 metres long on the east side of our site. It will run along the railway and in the direction of the Nachtegalenhof district behind it.

Sound wall
We installed a 50-meter-long and 10-meter-high sound wall on our container quay to better absorb so-called nuisance noise, such as knocking, drilling and banging. The position of the screen has been chosen in such a way that the damping effect is maximized, while our internal traffic can still easily pass and maneuver.
Vehicles on our site
We train employees to make less noise generated by rolling stock. For example, they learn to put materials down calmly and to report immediately if there is an abnormal amount of noise.
We replace loud reversing beeps with softer signals. These are less disruptive, but remain clearly audible for safety.
Conscious action in combination with the technical adjustment ensures a reduction in the noise pollution from our vehicles on the site.
