About Cobalt and Specialty Materials

Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Umicore’s materials are at the heart of products we use every day such as rechargeable batteries, tools, paints and tyres. Our recycling and refining processes give new life to cobalt and other metals and reduce environmental impacts. To meet the demands of our customers we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

The business line has a growth strategy built on green chemistry (bio based, biodegradable, increased efficiency) and sustainable applications (clean mobility, bioplastics, energy efficiency, …):

As Sales Development Manager you will

  • Introduce new chemistries to the market and you develop sales concepts to support the growth strategy
  • Manage & develop the global sales of Umicore Metal Carboxylates in the market segment of (Petro)Chemical Catalysts & Additives
  • Follow up and understand the drivers for innovation in your application domains (legislation, toxicity, European Green Deal)
  • Work in a B to B environment in direct contact with key accounts, as through global Umicore Marketing Services and experienced distributors with Global sales responsibility (focus on Europe, Asia and North America). This includes international travel and regular customer visits & contacts
  • Build application knowhow and you translate customers’ needs and wishes into solution-oriented sales and product development, identify new chemistries and launch product development at R&D
  • Maximize sales and profit, build long-term customer relations and you enlarge your business network (numerically and geographically)
  • Report to and support the Commercial Director to define and finetune sales strategies
  • Work in Bruges site with remote working possibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with

  • Master degree either in engineering or chemistry or material sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with technical commercial activities
  • Business Development Project experience
  • International B2B sales
  • Profound knowledge on metals chemistry, catalyst applications
  • Well-developed communication and reporting skills ( oral and written Languages: Dutch and English)
  • Commitment to achieve objectives and goals
  • Networker with strong commercial skills (negotiator and financial knowledge)
