What you will be doing

As Manager Chemicals and Product Safety you will - within the framework of compliance with European (REACH) and international chemical regulations- develop, update and manage policies and programmes to ensure compliance with international chemicals regulations. You will ensures that registration processes are in place to support Umicore Business Units globally. You will deliver expertise in the management of Safety Data Sheets, the good functioning of SAP EHS and the classification/labelling of Umicore products. 
 

Your detailed responsibilities :

  • Ensure license to operate/market under international chemical regulations : Development, update and management of the policies and programmes for an efficient EU REACH registration process, ensuring timely registrations and updates and follow up of specific procedures and lead Business Units through the process and support them in strategic decisions. Analysis of upcoming international chemicals regulations and assessment of the impact for Bsusiness Units in order to develop and implement required processes and structures to ensure compliance.
  • Representation of Umicore in external networks :  Represent Umicore in REACh consortia and actively participate in industry networks (eg Eurometaux) to ensure Umicore’s interests are covered. 
  •  Update and maintain the SAP EHS system :  Understands the SAP EHS system in detail and manage together with Information Systems the update of SAP EHS to keep it in full compliance with regulatory obligations. 
  • IPDS (Integrated Product Data System) support : Manage and improve the IPDS set-up including the day to day maintenance and specific additional projects.
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS) authoring : Evaluate technical and scientific information, regulatory requirements and business needs and authors high quality compliant SDS and labels.

Who we are looking for

  • You hold a Master degree in sciences such as (bio)chemistry or engineering.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years experience in the domain of product safety and chemicals regulations.
  • You possess good knowledge  of chemistry.
  • Your experience in management of complex IT systems such as SAP EHS and IUCLID software (for EU REACH) is certainly an asset.
  • You are able to understand complex technical and regulatory matters.
  • You have an analytical mindset and eager to learn. 
  • You are a good communicator in oral and written communication (in English).
  • You have good team-working and interpersonal skills to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • You can work autonomously and you have a good sense of prioritization of assigned goals.
