About New Business Incubation

The CTO organization is structured around two pillars: Corporate Research & Development (CRD) and New Business Incubation (NBI). NBI is a newly-created unit that will lead Umicore efforts to identify and incubate next generation disruptive technologies with the aim of creating new business opportunities. CRD and NBI will, in close collaboration with the business units, cover Umicore technology innovation roadmap for the short, medium and long term.

 

As an enthusiastic member of the open innovation team, you will be part of Umicore, a Materials Technology Leader.  You will assist the team with the preparation and follow-up of various documents, databases, agreements spreadsheets and administrative processes. You will also manage the administration of the financial flows associated with the property R&D contracts and open innovation activities.  You will be located in Brussels, the headquarters of Umicore, at close proximity of the Central station.

What you will be doing

1/ Within this role, you will be assisting in the management and follow-up of non-disclosure agreements, research agreements, and other recurring contracts.

  • You will assist managers of the open innovation team in the preparation of non-disclosure agreements based on standard templates and various other relevant documents according to the guidelines. You will also be in charge of the administrative process until the final signature and filing of the contract
  • You will manage the Sharepoint contract database and ensure its proper functioning, as well as keep files organized and up-to-date in a structured and autonomous way
  • You will assure follow-up the dates of expiration of on-going contracts and personally take care the necessary steps are taken to ensure their extension (when required)

2/ You will be in charge of the administrative management of financial flows (purchase orders generation and invoice track) related to R&D contracts

  • You will generate purchase orders based on the contracts set in the open innovation team
  • You will support invoices follow up and assist colleagues in resolving purchase order and invoice related questions
What we expect of you

Expertise:

  • You are very fluent in English, as well written as spoken.  Knowledge of other languages such as French and Dutch is a plus.
  • You are proficient in MS Office Word and Excel and tools for follow-up of financial flows and creating reports.
  • You have a mind for figures and are able to work accurately and independently with data.
  • You are organized, structured, and respectful of administrative processes
  • You can work autonomously and you have a sense for taking initiative while respecting the guidelines and processes.
  • You have no problem working with and maintaining deadlines.
  • You can easily adapt and feel at ease in an international environment and you communicate openly.
