What you will be doing

The Head of International Employment & Mobility will drive the design, development, implementation and management of Umicore’s mobility policies, programs and international employment structures, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic objectives and support Umicore in its rapid growth.

Today’s increasingly global world, Umicore’s fast growth and global talent needs, and the new ways of working, require effective international employment structures, mobility programs & processes in line with shifting business needs and compliance obligations.

Main responsibilities:

  • Design and execution of Umicore’s global strategy for mobility and cross border employment.
  • Craft effective and efficient policies and programs, steering continuous improvements and innovative approaches to mobility and international employment schemes (assignments, commuters, business travellers, local plus, localisations, employment in new locations, etc…).
  • Be responsible for the adherence to and keeping up to date on changing regulations and compliance requirements. Keep track of market trends.
  • Integrate global mobility and talent management.
  • Assure a high-quality functioning by adequate team/people coaching and development. Develop, encourage, and ensure the team is engaged and energized. Embrace diversity and inclusion.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo and identify areas for process improvement. Put plans in place to move towards efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring the team and the services are seen as professional, credible and trusted.

Who we are looking for

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with at least 3 years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of mobility and cross border employment topics, existing methodologies and approaches.
  • Proficient in English (verbal/presentation/written).
  • Strong leadership and people management/mentor skills, both hierarchically and in multi-functional/multi-cultural environments. Demonstrates an inclusive leadership style.
  • Has excellent organizational and project management skills. Able to work efficiently and run numerous projects simultaneously. Comfortable with change, complexity and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work at both operational and strategic levels, shifting quickly between details and big picture.
  • Eager to continuously find ways to improve the policies, programs and services. Shows a pro-active attitude triggering new ideas, innovative initiatives and solutions.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in ambiguous or difficult situations, synthesize information from multiple sources and use it for effective decision making.
  • Committed to results and decisive, with a ‘Make it happen’ attitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and judgment. Diligent yet flexible approach to problem solving.
  • Strong customer service skills with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Forms strong rapport with different partners. Ability to translate sophisticated situations into solutions for clear partners understanding.
