Job description

PURPOSE OF FUNCTION

As our new Learning & Development Manager your main focus is to further strengthen the Umicore learning culture. Together with your team of 4 dedicated L&D Advisors, you take the lead in all employee development initiatives. You actively promote the L&D vision of a learning organisation. Next to organising classroom training sessions, this includes ensuring an inspiring standard learning offer, stimulating programs that focus on learning from others, supporting learning on the job initiatives and setting up team development tracks. Through your excellent relations with stakeholders throughout the different Belgian sites, you keep the learning initiatives in line with the HR vision and the overall business goals.

 

The position is based in Hoboken but requires frequent visits to the other Umicore sites in Belgium. The L&D Manager reports to the Head of Learning, Development & Recruitment.

FUNCTION

  • You develop and implement an overall learning strategy for Belgium
  • As a strategic partner you advise and support Umicore leaders on learning, learning culture, talent and leadership development, performance evaluations, change management, career and succession planning
  • You coach your team into excellent performance and you position the L&D team as the preferred partner for all learning, personal development, team development and organizational development initiatives
  • You develop and implement learning and development programs that address overall or site-specific needs
  • You assess quality and content of training, evaluate external and internal trainers, consultants & programs and you provide quantitative & qualitative results of training efforts
  • You explore external funding possibilities for L&D initiatives, prepare & defend application files and monitor the administrative follow up of external funding
  • You build a strong network within Umicore, the industry and the L&D community
  • You make sure that the L&D team operates within budget

PROFILE

  • You have a Master degree in social sciences with at least 5 years of experience in learning, talent-, competence- & performance management and employee / team / organizational development, preferably in an industrial environment
  • You are fluent in Dutch, French and English
  • You are a driven coach with a focus on personal & professional development of your team members
  • You are an excellent communicator, approachable and strong in building relationships
  • You are able to present advice with credibility and authority
  • You are a mature, reliable and people oriented team player
  • You are customer oriented, pragmatic and experienced in change management
  • You can think strategically as well as at an individual level
  • You are open minded, innovative and able to deliver creative solutions
